Design Philosophy

Our philosophy and approach differs with the type of project. Commercial property owner’s project objectives differ from the priorities of the couple building or re-developing their dream home. We have therefore outlined our philosophy for both types of projects below.

Commercial
First step - Establish the client’s priorities in terms of budget, time schedule and quality of materials and finish. The type of commercial project will then inform our approach e.g. operational functioning will be equally important to issues of ambience and maintaining or creating character in hospitality projects. While in light industrial units allowing potential for flexibility in layout and usage will be equally imporant to aesthetics in other projects such as office developments. The clients sets the criteria and we tailor our design and services to suit.

Residential
"Seek first to understand, then to be understood"
We have to first understand our clients reasoning for undertaking any project - new houses may be for upsizing/downsizing, greener living, existing houses- improving and updating layout and modernising. Every project is different.
Therefore once we understand the challenge and have firmly estbalished the design brief. We then seek to establish the first principles of the site in terms of maximising natural light, addressing any available views and ensuring the layout is practical, secure and functional as well as beautiful.
