The Thomas Moore Tavern is an internationally recognised landmark pub situated in the heart of Wexford town, the pub was the birthplace of the mother of the poet and playwright Thomas Moore. The pub was never listed, but given its location in an area of archaeological importance. A conservation approach was required. The design brief was to retain the character and atmosphere of the original tavern, but to also create a modern public performance/restaurant addition. The result was a stunning modern 5 storey addition of glass, steel and timber panelling in an instantly recognisable and intuitive form similar to a brewing vat, that relates to the main trade of the premises.
